happy new year of the water tiger

happy new year everybody, the chinese new year begins on February 5th 2022

It is the year of the 'water tiger' and chinese folk astrology says that people born in this year show themselves to be emotionally cool, with an opportunistic nature about them. They have a discriminating approach to life that overrides their feelings, which can lead them to question the choices that they themselves make. Paradoxically, once they have made their choices they are very fierce in defending them.

master acupuncturists are guided by the 'cycles of life' and know this year as a 'jen yin'  year.

'jen' refers to the yang of water, the celestial stem energy of the year. Being a yang celestial stem, this year's energy is in excess.

'yin' refers to the yin of metal, the terrestrial branch energy of the year. On earth the yin of metal manifests wood energy, hence the correlation with the tiger; an animal that moves fast across the earth and can leap at any time.

alchemically, as all master acupuncturists know, excess wood energy produces a deficient earth energy according to the ke cycle of five element theory, and in so doing will add to the wood deep energy generated by the year's terrestrial branch, increasing the deficiency of earth energy for this year.

This alchemical scenario, the interaction between heavenly and earthly energies, continues the theme of increasing widespread famine that began in 2021.

In this year the advice on health, wealth and happiness might well be:

Health

The missing organic energies of 2022 are the stomach and spleen. Indeed, there are no Earth elemental and Earth deep energies present in the whole year.

A weakened immune system and poorly nourished blood can create instability in any or all internal organ systems.

The stomach and the spleen are the yang and yin energies of the Earth element.

Fortunately, the alchemy chart reveals that the wood energy is in excess and the fire energy is deficient. As wood feeds fire it becomes obvious the the acupuncture point Heart 9 becomes the balancing energy point for the year. It is imperative in this energetic scenario that the earth energy is well nourished by the fire energy. So, wood feeds fire feeds earth. Adding acupuncture points along the spleen meridian e.g. spleen 10 supports the missing earth energies.

Wealth

This is a moving forward year. Invest in the big players in the energy industry and equally in the tech industry.

Happiness

For master acupuncturists happiness is achieved through harmony, harmony both within and without.

Stimulating the 'four gates' (Colon 4 + Liver 3) on the 8 auspicious days of the year is an obvious way to harmonise in 2022.

2022 produces many serious concerns, focussed on earth energy. Make sure that your priority is to secure the products of the earth, especially food, for you and your family, as famine can rob many people of the happiness they need and deserve

Throughout the world this is a year of great instabilty, caused by those in power making choices that lead to great change.

The master acupuncture trauma point is spleen 3. This is the earth point along the yin of earth energy meridian. It grounds and balances.

Climate

There is a cold fieriness to the climate this year, that creates extreme sequential changes in climate. During these periods of change wind will be severe.

The Spring will be much colder than usual. The Summer will be subject to extreme heat. The Autumn will be stormy. The Winter will be harsh with extreme cold. The Seasons are unbalanced.

Natural earthquakes and man made earthquakes (fracking and nuclear testing) can be consequences of a weak centre.

As we know, every year produces energetic strengths and weaknesses. These effects are created by the Cycles of Life. These are natural cycles that determine not only the world we live in but also the world within us.

happy new year of the metal ox

happy new year everybody, the chinese new year begins on February 12th 2021

It is the year of the 'metal ox' and chinese folk astrology says that people born in this year will show themselves to be emotionally sensitive with a serious nature about them. They have an analytical approach to life that overrides their feelings, which can lead them to question their own motives. They have difficulty in asserting themselves in the face of stronger personalities, with a natural desire to retreat when put under pressure.

master acupuncturists know this year as a 'sin shou' year.

'sin' refers to the yin of water, the celestial stem energy of the year. Being a yin celestial stem, this year's energy is in deficiency.

'shou' refers to the yin of wood, the terrestrial branch energy of the year. On earth the yin of wood manifests earth energy, hence the correlation with the ox, an animal that moves slowly over the earth, often yoked to heavy carts.

alchemically, as all master acupuncturists know, deficient water energy produces an excess of earth energy according to the ke cycle of five element theory, and in so doing will add to the earth deep energy generated by the year's terrestrial branch.

This alchemical scenario, the interaction between heavenly and earthly energetics, can result in widespread famine for humans.

In this year the advice on health, wealth and happiness might well be:

Health

The missing organic energy of 2021 is the three heater energy. Indeed, there is no fire element energy for the year at all.

Looking at the five element alchemy chart for 2021, the unlike qi of the celestial stem is the small intestine energy whilst the unlike qi of the terrestrial branch is also the small intestine energy.

A weak metabolic energetic function allied to weak small intestine energy brings up digestive issues.

Small intestine energy is a fire element energy.

Fortunately, the alchemy chart reveals an excess of wood element energy and deep energy. As wood nourishes fire it becomes obvious that the acupuncture point Small Intestine 3 is the balancing energy point for the year! Add acupuncture points Three Heater 2 and 3 to promote health and harmony throughout the year.

Wealth

This is a year to consolidate gains made in 2020. Invest in metal commodities for a modest increase in wealth and cryptocurrencies for greater if riskier gains.

Happiness

For master acupuncturists happiness is achieved through harmony, harmony both within and without.

Stimulating the 'four gates' (Colon 4 + Liver 3) on the 8 auspicious days of the year is an obvious way to harmonise in 2021.

2021 produces many serious concerns, focussed on earth energy. Make sure that your priority is to secure the products of the earth, especially food, for you and your family, as famine can rob many people of the happiness they need and deserve after the trials of 2020.

Use acupuncture point GV 20 when despair rules.

Climate

Compared to last year, this year the climate is far more stable and is highlighted by cool, damp and wet conditions. So watch out for an increase in flooding.

Because the Earth has a weak fire element energy in 2021 there is a danger of space weather forcing coronal mass ejections towards the Earth as well as an increase in earthquakes.

As we know, every year produces energetic strengths and weaknesses. These effects are created by the Cycles of Life. These are natural cycles that determine not only the world we live in but also the world within us.

happy new year of the metal rat

happy new year everybody, the chinese new year begins on January 25th 2020.

It is the year of the 'metal rat'and chinese folk astrology says that people born in this year will show themselves to be highly intelligent, with a secretive nature about them. They hold strong opinions but find it hard to express them. A sense of justice being important in the world  mixes with a desire to be on one's own. Whatever they choose to pursue in life, they wont easily give up!

master acupuncturists know this year as a keng tse' year.

'keng' refers to the yang of metal, the celestial stem energy of the year. Being a yang celestial stem, this year's energy is in excess. If you were to look for an example of this kind of organic energy in nature then you need look no further than the armadillo.

'tse' relates to the symbolic energy of the rat; a quick, shiny creature that is highly organised; elusive yet profuse.

when these two energies integrate, as in 2020, their relationship produces instability and irritability.

alchemically, as all master acupuncturists know, excess metal energy will produce deficient wood energy according to the ke cycle of five element theory, and in so doing will weaken the energy of the rat.

In this year the advice on health, wealth and happiness might well be:

Health:

The missing organic energy in 2020 is the stomach energy. Indeed, the earth element is missing on both elemental and deep energy levels.

Looking at the five element alchemy chart for 2020 shows a deficient wood energy that leads to poor nourishment of the fire energy, and especially the heart energy because the heart organic energy is the most unlike energy of the gall bladder energy i.e. gall bladder energy is the terrestrial branch energy for 2020.

Also, we need to be aware of the energy imbalance occurring at the level of six division energy. yang ming six division energy is a combination of colon and stomach organic energy. In 2020 there is an excess of colon organic energy whilst stomach organic energy is completely missing for the whole year. This weakened state of yang ming energy is further compounded by the ruling (tu thien) six division energy for the year, shao yin, favourably destroying yang ming energy according to the ke cycle of the five element model.

These energetic scenarios lead a master acupuncturist to choose Stomach 36, Colon 4 and Liver 3, Heart 6 as powerful energy points in preventing disease and promoting harmony in 2020.

Just as in the previous year, 2019, we need to pay particular attention to our diet. Eating at regular times of the day, choosing an alkaline diet and fasting one day every week helps the stomach and colon to cope with the energetic imbalance of 2020.

Wealth:

The seeds of financial success were sewn in 2019; in 2020 we have can gather the fruits of financial growth.

This is a year to cash in profits, investing profits in currency, banks and property (housing and land) for the best return.

Everyone feels better off in 2020!

Happiness:

For master acupuncturists happiness is achieved through harmony, both within and without.

Stimulating the 'four gates' (Colon 4 & Liver 3 bilateral) using acupuncture on the eight auspicious days of the new year is an obvious way to harmonise in 2020.

Then there is an acupuncture point that is 'the earth of the earth' point i.e. Stomach 36.
This organic energy point happens to be the crucial point for stimulating the missing organic energy in this new year. We can all stimulate it by using fingertip pressure at the point:

this acupuncture point - ST-36 - is the increasing energy (horary) point for the missing organic energy of a 'metal rat' year.

2020 is a year where happiness is dependent on achieving a sense of calm amongst the storm of conflicting narrow-minded opinions that dominate this year.

The potential for serious conflict escalating to nation warfare is high if an open-minded collective consciousness is not adopted.

Climate:

The climate in a 'keng tse' year is naturally much cooler and windier than average.

To begin the year there will be  increased wind and dryness, punctuated by short-lived violent thunderstorms.

Summer brings a heatwave with the likelihood of raging wildfires that extend into autumn.

Winter 2020 brings increased cold with heavy snow.

This 'keng tse' year brings a great degree of instability. Powerful excessive force brings to all of us a need to make wise choices in our lives in order to navigate the year safely.

happy new year of the earth pig

happy new year everybody, the chinese new year began on february 5th 2019.

It's the year of the 'earth pig' and chinese folk astrology says that people born in this year will show themselves to be honest, reliable, thoughtful, home-loving talkative people, though they easily tire when overdoing things. Beware of the earth pig's manipulative nature, and they can be very self-centred!

master acupuncturists know this year as a 'chi hai' year.

Chi relates to the yin of the Earth element and so in this new year there is a deficiency of organic energy, and the quality of this energy is slow and patient. If you were to look for an example of this kind of organic energy in nature then you need look no further than the turtle.

Hai relates to the symbolic energy of the pig, a creature lazy by nature but prone to bouts of excessive activity.

So, putting these two energetic scenarios together - slow and patient with lazy and intense - results in a relationship that produces a phlegmatic nature that is occasionally punctuated with periods of intense activity.

Alchemically, as all master acupuncturists know, deficient earth energy will produce excess wood energy according to the ke cycle of five element theory, and in so doing strengthens the grasp on physical and conceptual movement, ameliorating the seeds of lethargy and apathy.

So, in this new year, the advice on health, wealth and happiness might well be:

Health

The missing organic energies in this new year are the lung, colon and gall bladder energies. With the Earth element deficient there's an obvious need to strengthen the Metal element as according to the sheng cycle of the five element model 'Earth feeds Metal'. Strengthen the lungs through exercise and perhaps have a colonic irrigation (or at least have a detox diet for a few days every season). Keeping active will also help to stimulate the gall bladder energy (a function of gall bladder energy is to 'gather and nourish the tendons and ligaments').

Physical activity needs to be planned in a 'chi hai' year. It helps in strengthening the missing Metal element and the missing Metal deep energy for the year. The best exercise of all in this year is walking.

Wealth:

So, this is a new year in which the energetic seeds for financial success are being sown.

Whatever the enterprise, provided it is properly planned and managed, there is a greater chance of monetary success in this year than almost any other in the alchemic sixty year cycle!

Excess Wood energy for this year suggests increased growth for the year over previous years.

Gold and silver increase in value whilst land and property values stagnate.

 Happiness:

For master acupuncturists happiness is achieved through harmony, both within and without.

Stimulating the 'four gates' using acupuncture on the eight auspicious days of the new year is
one way to harmonise in any year.

For this new year we can all help to harmonise ourselves by taking on some of the above mentioned characteristics for someone born in an earth pig year.

Then there is an acupuncture point that is 'the gathering point for nourishing tendons and ligaments' and that happens to be a gall bladder energy point, a missing organic energy in this new year. We can all stimulate it by using fingertip pressure at the point:

This acupuncture point - GB-34 - is the celestial stem energy balancing point for an earth pig year.

The Climate in a chi hai year is naturally much wetter than average.

To begin the year, there will be increased wind and flood events, with a cooler than average beginning to summer. Summer ends warmer than average and the warmth extends into autumn. Winter begins with more extensive flooding, cold slowly increases but this is not a harsh winter.

The 'chi hai' year brings a degree of stability not experienced for some years, and prepares us for the tumultuous year to come: the year of the metal rat.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

happy new year of the earth dog

happy new year everybody, the chinese new year begins on february 16th 2018.

it's the year of the 'earth dog' and chinese folk astrology says that people born in this year will show themselves to be affectionate, generous, communicative, home loving though serious workers, and full of energy. Beware of the earth dog's barking nature, though this is a dog who's bark is worse than it's bite!

master acupuncturists know this year as a 'wu hsiu' year.

Wu relates to the yang of the Fire element and so in this new year there is an excess of organic energy, and the quality of that energy is excitable and demanding. If you were to look for an example of this kind of organic energy in nature then you need look no further than a wildfire.

Hsiu relates to the symbolic energy of the dog. Any dog owner knows that a dog can be very affectionate and loyal if it's needs are met; equally, they soon let you know when they feel neglected.

So, in putting these two energetic scenarios together - excitable and demanding, emotional and needy - results in a relationship that produces a dramatic nature that is steadied through being centred/balanced/grounded.

Alchemically, as all master acupuncturists know, excess fire energy will produce deficient metal energy according to the ke cycle of five element theory, and in so doing weakens the grasp on physical reality and the things of the physical world, only to increase an intensity of being.

So, in this new year, the advice on health, wealth and happiness might well be:

Health

The missing organic energies in this new year are the lung, colon and gall bladder energies. With the Metal element deficient ther's an obvious need to strenghten the lungs through exercise and perhaps have a colonic irrigation (or at least have a detox diet for a few days every season). Keeping active will also help to stimulate the gall bladder energy (a function of gall bladder energy is to 'gather and nourish the tendons and ligaments').

Physical activity needs to be increased in a 'wu hsiu' year. It helps to burn off excess fire energy and it stimulates the Wood element and Wood deep energy, which are both missing in the alchemical chart for this new year.

Wealth:

So, this is a new year in which, to be on the safe side, you need to try and hold on to what you have!

However, it's also a year that tempts one to try one's luck!!

Investing in currencies and mining should be avoided (metal energy is weak throughout the year).

Excess fire energy indicates that communication sectors will do well, especially communication infrastructures.

Happiness:

For master acupuncturists happiness is achieved through harmony, both within and without.

Stimulating the 'four gates' using acupuncture on the eight auspicious days of the new year is
one way to harmonise in any year.
For this new year we can all help to harmonise ourselves by taking on some of the above mentioned characteristics during an earth dog year.
Then there is an acupuncture point that 'harmonises the interior and the exterior' and that happens to be a gall bladder energy point, a missing organic energy in this new year. We can all stimulate it by using fingertip pressure at the point:

Stimulate by rotating clockwise pressure using a fingertip, crystal etc.

The Climate in a wu hsiu year is naturally much hotter than average, especially in the high summer season and throughout the autumn. Famine through crop failure is likely to increase. As will wildfires.
The best case scenario is a wet spring, a great long summer, virtually no autumn followed by a hard winter.
The worst case scenario is catastrophic fire due to volcanic activity etc.

The 'wu hsiu' year brings an abundance of vibrant, passionate energy that moves forward, with an intensity, the fruits of the previous year.

change and master acupuncture

Welcome everybody,

I am currently working at a retreat - www.amchara.com - in the mediterranean, where the strap line is "change for good".

Retreats are great places for making lifestyle changes, both short term and long term.

Getting away from the habitual, from the everyday routines and responsibilities that shape our lives, is a sure way to begin the process of change, whatever those changes might be.
Of course, it's not the only way, but more often than not we do need support to make those changes that matter to us.

It's so easy for us to get into 'ruts' in our lives, to accept the status quo or to indulge in the 'comfort zone' that we might have spent a lot of time and energy (not to mention money) in creating for ourselves. But after a while, perhaps even a long while, there comes that niggling feeling that this is not enough. We could be bigger and better, and we know it!

Sometimes we just know that without a break, a change, our lives are in danger of unravelling, whether from exhaustion or being under pressure or simply by not being selfish enough. And a holiday is not the answer, it wont do it for us, something more radical is needed!

At the retreat this help is straightforward. Our guests have already made the decision to change.

Being primarily a detox retreat, master acupuncture supports the cleansing process by firstly offering the 'four gates' treatment. This treatment works on tonifying the large intestine and sending energy down to encourage toxin elimination. It also tonifies the liver, which has to work hard in the first few days of detoxification. Together, needling these four acupuncture points increases yang energy  and in so doing reduces the pain of change!

Secondly, master acupuncture treats any health issues that our guests may be experiencing. These may be as a result of the detoxification process e.g. there are two acupuncture points that when combined together reduce the cravings from giving up comfort eating; there is an acupuncture point for increasing willpower, lessening the agony of change; there are acupuncture points for increasing energy levels should lethargy set in, etc. Quite often guests will bring with them other health issues, ranging from pain conditions such as knee pain to more systemic problems e.g. high blood pressure, asthma, etc. Master acupuncture can help by initiating treatments that focus on such conditions that can then be continued to be resolved on returning home.

Thirdly, master acupuncture offers balancing treatments, balancing the five elements as a preventative measure when it comes to maintaining a healthy and harmonious body/mind/soul. According to oriental medicine, dis-ease and disharmony result by increased degrees of imbalance. The master acupuncturist is able to work out everyones five element imbalances from birth and is able to restore a degree of balance, thereby promoting health and harmony.

Here at amchara the emphasis is on detoxification and weight loss. However, whatever your situation, when it comes to making changes, master acupuncture can help.

Master acupuncturists know that the organic energy responsible for determining what's good for you and what's not good for you is the small intestine energy. Often people will unconsciously tune into their small intestine energy when mulling over whether to go ahead with a particular action or choice! The last point on the small intestine energy meridian is SI-19, with the name 'listen to your heart'. It is found on the face, just in front of the ear. See how many people rub this area up and down with their forefinger when contemplating something put to them.

The small intestine, in oriental medicine, is intimately connected with the heart energy (indeed it is referred to as the yang of the heart). Using the point SI-7, with the name 'gate to the heart', is a powerful tool for the master acupuncturist, promoting a deep change in the personality that encourages 'change for good'.

A course of acupuncture treatment can make the all the difference between succeeding or failing in your heartfelt desire to ring the changes for your own health & harmony.

happy new year of the wood goat

happy new year everybody, the chinese new year begins on february 19th 2015.

actually, master acupuncturists know that there are 3 chinese new years every year!

the first is on january 20th 2015, and is known as the celestial new years day. it always falls on the 20th or 21st january every year, when the constellation of aquarius is at 15 degrees to the earth.

the second, known as the terrestrial new years day, always falls on february 5th. this is the first day of spring according to the cycle of the four seasons.

the third, known as the human new years day, is the one we all hear about, falling on the second new moon after the winter solstice. this is the one that affects each of us as individuals and all of us as a race.

so, in a nutshell, there is a new years day in heaven (the celestial sphere); on earth (the terrestrial sphere); and in man (the human sphere).

what all three new years have in common is the same vibrational quality and quantity, determined by the cycles of life. the cycles of life repeat every 60 years (a sexagenary cycle) and they are the basis for master acupuncture practice.

so, let's have a look at the vibrational quality and quantity associated with the year of the wood goat. by doing this we can gain an insight into what to expect over the coming year, and how we might be affected!

the chinese name for a wood goat year is 'yi wei'. yi relates to the yin of wood and so in this new year there is a deficiency of organic energy, and the quality of this organic energy is calm and flowing. if you were to look for an example of this kind of organic energy you would do no better than to observe the flow of river currents. the flowing strength of the river symbolises the energy of yi in nature. wei relates to the symbolic energy of the goat. now any goatherder knows the tawny strength of the goat, able to climb surefootedly in hostile terrain, able to digest anything edible, calm by nature until provoked!

so, in putting these two energetic scenarios together - calm, powerful, flowing energy and strong, nourishing energy - results in a relationship that produces a calm, pleasantly enjoyable and benign strength of nature, with the odd flare up from time to time!

a closer look at the deficient energy of 'yi' shows that, in the cycles of life, it is trapped within a ring of metal energy.

alchemically, as all master acupuncturists know, deficient metal energy allows fire energy to increase along the five element reverse ke cycle, and in so doing creates energetic heat and the occasional flare up.

if this is the energetic nature of the host 'yi wei', the wood goat year, then we as guests would do well to harmonise with our host. as each of us has our own unique enegetic nature (our personal energy signature) this action can be easier for some than others! if you don't know whether you're a water dragon or an earth dog etc. then follow the link and simply key in your date of birth www.birthdayoils.com and find out.

it can all be worked out i.e. the relationship you already have with the new year, energetically speaking. and as we know (it's a universal law) energy creates, controls and sustains our forms i.e. our body/mind/soul/spirit forms. all this knowledge creates a possibility for master acupuncturists to harmonise the guest and the host, throughout their time together, by practicing the four 'change of season' treatments. you can access this treatment protocol at www.masteracupuncture.co.uk

medically speaking, in this new wood goat year, the missing organic energies of the water element mean that the kidneys and the bladder are at greater risk during this year. this is especially so for the kidneys in the autumn i.e. the metal season in a deficient metal year. so, hydration is going to be particularily important then, and to a lesser extent throughout the whole year.

the climate in a 'yi wei' year is naturally drier than usual, summer being hotter than usual with the occasional heatwave. volcanic activity increases whilst earthquake activity decreases, however those earthquakes that do happen are likely major events.

The 'yi wei' year brings a welcome relief from the turbulent 'chia wu' year just past.

HAPPY NEW YEAR
