happy new year everybody, the chinese new year begins on the 17th February 2026.

It is the year of the 'fire horse' and chinese folk astrology says that people born in this year tend to be passionate, loving and sensual, tending to act impulsively in everyday life.

They are more likely to be extroverts rather than introverts and want emotional connections with others in everyday life. Others admire their sensual nature, with which they employ in fulfilling their needs.

Master acupuncturists are guided by the alchemy of the 'cycles of life' and know this year as a 'ping wu' year.

'ping' refers to the yang of the fire within the water element, that forms the celestial stem energy for the year. Being a yang celestial stem, this year's energy is in excess. Therefore, people born in this year will have a constitutional excess of energy.

'wu' refers to the yin of fire energy, the terrestrial branch energy of the year. On Earth the yin of fire energy manifests as communication and sensitivity skills, hence the correlation with the horse, an animal known for its responsiveness and emotional nature!

Alchemically, as all master acupuncturists know, an excess of celestial stem water energy produces a deficiency of fire energy according to the ke cycle of five element theory, and in doing so helps to moderate the yin of fire energy and the six division of shao yin, necessary in a powerful fire and water year.

This alchemical scenario, the interaction between heavenly and earthly energies, creates extremes of cold and heat for 2026, interspersed with periods of heavy rain.

In this year the advice on health, wealth and happines might be:

Health

The missing organic energies for 2026 are the gall bladder, lung and colon. Indeed, there is neither wood element or wood deep energy throughout the year. The overriding impression is one where a lack of wood disrupts the natural flow between three energies i.e. water/wood/fire, leading to over exuberance with corresponding physical exhaustion.

Fotunately, alchemy reveals the formula that balances this energetic scenario. SP-9 and PC-3 are the celestial stem balancing points. SP-9 cools down the yin of fire and PC-3 also cools down the yin of fire.

Wealth

This is a year for creating wealth through creative projects that give birth to material success. Investing in AI products that lead to measurable changes in the material world, such as humanoid robots, driverless cars etc. will likely pay off.

Happiness

For master acupuncturists happiness is achieved through harmony, harmony both within and without.

Stimulating the 'four gates' (Colon 4 + Liver 3) on the 8 auspicious days of the year is an obvious way to harmonise in 2026.

Master acupuncturists use ST-37 and ST-39 combined as a grounding treatment in this exuberant year!

Climate

Shao Yin dominates the energetic atmosphere on Earth throughout the year and it's influence is further encouraged by the fire energy representing the terrestrial branch energy for this year. What can easily occur throughout this coming year are long spells of extreme heat e.g. wildfires, with short spells of intense water e.g. flooding.

As we know, every year produces energetic strengths and weaknesses. These are created by the Cycles of Life. These are natural cycles that determine not only the world we live in but also the world within us.
